Open Question

Q: How do I find out what a mystery switch does?

I have a 3-way switch at my back door, and one switch seems to be defunct. One does the exterior flood lights, one does the stairway lights, and the other is a mystery. Is there a way to find out what this switch actually goes to?

Tip Of The Day

Wooden golf tees are handy for repairing a stripped screw hole. Coat the tee with glue and tap it into the hole. Allow the glue to cure, then use a chisel or utility knife to trim the tee flush with the surface. Bore a small-diameter pilot hole before driving in the screw.
